A Community Christmas

Mitten Trees

For over 50 years, A Community Christmas has collected mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, and even sweatshirts and coats to help ensure that the less fortunate of Stark County, especially children, are kept warm during the winter months. More than 31 local businesses, churches, banks, libraries and other organizations participated last year, collecting 6,747 items!  All donated items were distributed to Community Health Clinics and Shelters, as well as Canton City, Plain Local Schools and through ACC’s Giving Center. We are incredibly thankful to all of those that support the Mitten Tree Program, especially the North Canton Library and Trinity United Church of Christ for being collection sites.

It’s easy to participate in the Mitten Tree Program, simply:

  • Set up a Christmas tree in your lobby or entry area in early November.
Make a sign (or print the sign below) to put on or near your tree.
  • Hang a few hats or gloves on your Mitten Tree to get it started.
Once your tree fills up, call the office at 330-454-3841 for your items to be picked up (in December or January).

Your support of the Mitten Tree Program helps make a difference in the lives of many — over 27,000 children and adults benefited from the Mitten Tree Program over the last five years!

If you have any questions about participating in the program, contact the ACC office at 330-454-3841 after Sept. 18th.  We truly appreciate your support and involvement!
